Kudos to the Malaysian Students!

Buoyed by Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's consent 20,000 students thronged the streets of Kuala Lumpur at 1400hrs today. Flags, banners, bandanas and Palestinian flags are found everywhere and mostly (even the flags) are made by the students themselves. The students' did not converge with the approximately 10,000 of their seniors who demonstrated at the American Embassy but instead went to Hotel Nikko at Jalan Ampang and went straight along Jalan Ampang towards the Egyptian Embassy - who they think are not doing enough to help the suffering brothers and sisters in Gaza, Palestine.

The security forces were minimal and were very co-operative with the crowd. The crowd were disciplined and were VERY fast paced. It would seem like the Malay Mail Big Walk I used to attend albeit with shouting slogans and praises to Allah SWT.

The police thought that the students were to demonstrate at the British High Commission but was forced to make haste for the Egyptian Embassy (I assumed no police were there - clever police eh?). They failed as a result of the ensuing traffic jam.

KHAIBAR! KHAIBAR! KHAIBAR YAYAHUD!
