Cow Head Issue: Islam has nothing to do with this!!

Allah says in the glorious Qur’an: “We have honoured the sons of Adam; provided them with transport on land and sea; given them for sustenance things good and pure; and conferred on them special favours above a great part of Our Creation.” (Al-Qur’an 17:70).

And another: And do not insult those they invoke other than Allah, lest they insult Allah in enmity without knowledge.” (Al-Qur’an 6:108)And another: "And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord; and a Garden, the extensiveness of which is (as) the heavens and the earth, it is prepared for those who guard (against evil). Ease as well as in straitness, and those who restrain (their) anger and pardon men; and Allah loves the doers of good (to others).

Those who spend (benevolently) in ease as well as in straitness, and those who restrain (their) anger and pardon men; and Allah loves the doers of good (to others). And those who when they commit an indecency or do injustice to their souls remember Allah and ask forgiveness for their faults and who forgives the faults but Allah, and (who) do not knowingly persist in what they have done. (Al-Quran: 3/ 133...135)

In this blessed month of Ramadhan the Muslims are commanded to restrain themselves. Not only from obvious and extrinsic vice but also from within. For our biggest enemy is within ourselves and what prejudice we have in our hearts.

I am referring to the despicable acts of a group of Muslims who have brought with themselves a severed cow's head and paraded it all the way from the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque in Shah Alam to the Selangor State Secretariat Building. They spat, kicked and abused the head and even placed in in front of the building's gates. Apparently to insult the Hindu god of the cow.

Even though they have just finished their Friday Prayers at the mosques, their actions are unislamic, uncivilised and far from being pious. They should not resort to such tactics and insensitive behaviour. I call for these people should be sent to Islamic correctional facilities, the same places where the Al-Arqam was sent to before. At a time when one should remain remorseful and begging for forgiveness from Allah SWT when Satan and its demons are incarcerated, one should not mimic one's actions as if Satan is set free.

Even in times of war a Muslim must not insult the non-Muslims' beliefs. Khalifah Abu Bakr As-Siddik (ra), he commanded Usama ibne Zaid (ra): “I command you to do ten things: you must not kill a woman or a child, or an elderly person; do not cut down trees, or vandalize homes, or wound a sheep or camel except if you must eat it; do not drown a palm tree, or burn it, do not be treacherous; do not be cowardly; and you will pass by people who have devoted themselves to monastery life: leave them alone with their devotions.” (Tarikh At-Tabari, V.3, p.210)

I call upon the Fatwa Council to read the verses above from the Qur'an being the highest authoritative text in Islamic Law and to condemn these actions by those who deem themselves as Muslims.
