Of Wikileaks, Singapore and Anwar Ibrahim

The expose by the Australian media turned out to be an anticlimax by UMNO and BN leaders and supporters. They can choose to believe it, spread the word around, ignore those parts regarding Lee Kuan Yew's flattering and blistering assessment of the IQ of UMNO leaders and then concentrate the spin by focusing on Anwar.

Of course they are stuck between a rock and a hard place. In their current state of turmoil, UMNO and BN could well use any form of mileage by propagating the news but their deafening silence proves that the news expose may well turn out to be a wolf in sheep's clothing, as believing the piece would also mean believing that Najib is nothing but his wife in her husband's clothing and Malaysia as being nothing but a joke.

The loss of Pulau Batu Puteh, the oil fields off Brunei, Tanjung Pagar and the water supply bullying by Singapore is testament that indeed Malaysia is manned by useless idiots who would prefer to call FELDA complainants as 'Traitors' rather than themselves.

However the rationale for my generous assessment of the Malaysian government does not depend on the cable leak. The knowledge that UMNO is filled with buffoons, corrupted bigots and coward racists is a truism. Or the equivalent of what the Islamic Muhaddithin would call 'Mutawatir' leaving no room for dispute.

The leak merely cemented a known fact and tied it up with the story on Anwar as it was all the rage being a mere two months after the explosive issue surfaced that year in 2008. If Rosmah was caught with her pants down in Harrods of London stealing a pair of knickers that would have made the correspondence as well!

In any event I support Wikileaks (with a pinch of salt of course!) as it forms part of indirect evidence that could be used according to the level of trustworthiness. For example, a clear video footage of an American Apache attack chopper gunning down innocents in Iraq is of more evidential value than mere hunches by Singaporeans who at last admitted bullying and hammering Malaysia into submission, bowing to its demands.

It would be interesting to see how the Premier respond to this!

I append herewith the Official Response from PKR's Director of Communications:

---

The online site Wikileak’s disclosure of the sodomy charges against Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim fabricated by the Malaysian Special Branch is a serious matter as this is the surest sign yet that the persecution stems from a conspiracy at the highest levels.

What is more shocking is the fact that the leadership of the Republic of Singapore has chosen to partake in this deception by deliberately spreading disinformation to an Australian intelligence agency, the Office of National Assessments (ONA).

We must ask why the Singaporean intelligence services chose to collude with Malaysia’s Special Branch in spreading such lies about Anwar. The fact that Australian Members of Parliament, along with other members of the international community have been questioning the independence of the persecution of Anwar heightens such suspicions.

It should furthermore be pointed out that the cables exposed by Wikileaks are essentially information collected by third parties – like Australia – that were then shared to the US State Department. As a result, the cables contain all manner of information – including personal opinions and hearsay and hence are far from reliable.

I hope the ‘technical intelligence’ mentioned in Wikileaks could be revealed to the public since that was the basis that the Singaporean intelligence claimed led to their conclusion.

At the end of the day, the current campaign of persecution and vilification against Anwar is no different from the first: both rely on the abuse of the judicial process and only the reliance of flimsy medical evidence by the persecution. This, if nothing else should prove that this case is politically motivated and engendered by a conspiracy at the highest levels.
