13th General Elections!

It seems that the current Malaysian Prime Minister does indeed believe that he is riding high on local populace support. Findings, polls and surveys suddenly show that Najib's administration in on a high, higher than 60%, which led to speculations being fueled about an impending snap elections as soon as September 2010.

Najib and Barisan Nasional would do well to remember that it is their over-confidence which led to the worst-ever showing for BN in 2008. Khir 'Mickey' Toyo was blatantly so where he promised a 'zero opposition' status for Selangor. He was later expelled shamefully and was later implicated for a number of corruption and misuse of state funds.

Throughout the years, the Rakyat found that their 'experiment' on Selangor, Pulau Pinang, Kedah and to an extent Perak, was generally good. This negates the perception that only BN could govern or only BN could give the Rakyat economic prosperity and development.

We must remember that the Rakyat are not fools. They understand the limitation of state governments vs the Federal. The latest media release by the Merdeka Centre states that about 66% of the Rakyat feels that too much power is vested in the Federal Government. The people are only too wise to understand the various sabotages, unfair media coverage, gags and blatant bribes against Pakatan Rakyat.

Pakatan Rakyat offers a more responsible, people-centric form of government. For all this while UMNO and BN were dishing out projects and contracts to their supporters, and left those actually in need behind. Proof you say? just google it!

Homes for the desperate, PPRT and Projek Rumah Rakyat, are always reserved a portion for members of like say UMNO cawangan and bahagian. These inscrupulous people then rent the same out to the actual poor and generate revenue from these tenants. Since Merdeka, this has been a norm and a loud secret but the people have been powerless to resist. They have since accepted it as a norm.

The people now have woken up, they suddenly realise that they have power to decide their own destiny. They now understand that they have a right to feel content and a right to share Malaysia's prosperity which they now know is not the inherent right of UMNO members. They want to feel rich too!

But of course UMNO will say that their existence is a pre-requisite of prosperity. That Pakatan Rakyat are mere imaginers and wishful thinkers. But for the Rakyat to dream and later to suddenly realise that dream, will be a bitter nightmare for BN and UMNO especially!

These scare tactics will be used more extensively in the next General Elections as the survival of UMNO and BN is at stake. Without the Federal coffers in their control, UMNO with their corrupt supporters (who rely on project handouts) will collapse and render them irrelevant.

For BN to lose the Federal Government in the next GE is fatal and perhaps permanent. BN will be wiped out of history for the first time in history, and I will do everything in my power to ensure that this dream is realised.

Salam Reformasi!
